LAYOFF WARNING SIGNS...
What happen to America? The economy here is getting bad, when will this end? Everything goes up but our salary. A lot of houses that are being foreclosed, many of the stores went bankrupt and tons of employees got laid off.
A lot of job seekers are looking for open position/s in where I'm working right now. To be honest, that really scares me. Every time I think of those people who unfortunately lost their job I couldn't avoid but to ask my self how safe is my job? And every time I think about that I say a little prayer to God and thank him for I have this wonderful job.
Please give 2 minutes or so to read this article, I believe this is a big help.
Stay one step ahead of a layoff by heeding these warning signs.
Internal Problems: Things You Control
Sometimes we ignore obvious signs that the other shoe is going to drop,
attributing negative signals to a bad phase that will quickly pass.
Unfortunately, ignoring these signs can threaten your job security.Watch out if:
You Got a Bad Review or a Warning.
How was your last performance review? Did you get a decent raise? Were you
given any warnings or put on probation for anything? It's a bad sign if nothing
positive was said during your review.Your Boss Looks over Your Shoulder.
Has your boss recently put you on a short leash, when he used to trust you
to work independently?
Maybe he's been giving you subtle warnings that your work is not up to snuff
even though you think otherwise, and he finally got tired of you missing his signals. You Get the Cold Shoulder.
Do colleagues you used to eat lunch or talk with avoid you lately? Do they skirt discussions about future projects? Are you being left out of meetings you used to be part of? Think there's a reason?External Problems: Management Changes Beyond Your Control
Keeping an eye on the company, its health and the ripple effects of
high-level decisions can clue you into the true status of your job security.
Be wary if:
You Get a New Boss.
For five years, you worked in harmony with your boss, who was suddenly replaced by a rattlesnake. This is no time to be complacent; prep for a job search before
you have to. Line up a reference from HR since the new boss probably won't give you a good one.
Management Makes Changes at the Top.
The company's leader and figurehead suddenly disappears, and the entire mood of
the company shifts. Long-time employees are heard grumbling and complaining
about the new direction. This can actually help you. Ask yourself: How do I
handle change? If you're averse to making a big move, you'll probably hate the new procedures that go along with the transition to a new leader. On the other hand, how will you handle the changes associated with getting a new
job? Will you find those challenges any easier? Weigh the consequences of both scenarios. There Are Rumors of Restructuring or Layoffs.
Sometimes rumors carry a grain of truth. If there is talk about restructuring the
office, be prepared. If you don't do a full-out job search, at least dust
off your resume so if you're cut, you'll have that chore out of the way.New Hires Don't Fit the Mold.
Sometimes a new colleague is hired who can
do no wrong with all of the managers but treats you and other employees like
dirt. If you've complained and documented your gripes but management doesn't
confront the bad apple, you must assess what this person Is doing to your
outlook on work. Sometimes morale can get so low that there's no choice but to
leave. Overall, it's important to know the difference
between something that truly threatens your job security and something that may
actually turn out to be a bad week or month.
If you're one of those people who got laid off please don't lose your hope and don't quit! Only losers know how to quit, you're not a quitter aren't you?

MY I-751 INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE
We were scheduled for our I-751 interview on 10/23/08 at 8:30 am. We left our house early to give us enough time to find a parking space and be early for our interview. We are in the city of Hartford before 8:00 am but unfortunately we couldn't find the place. What a shame! we didn't have hard time finding the place when we applied for my AOS 3 years ago. It was 9:00 am and were still looking for the place and finally we found a gas station we stopped and asked for direction. After few turns we finally found the place and were more than an hour late. We still went inside and apologize to the receptionist for being late. He just told us " it's alright, no problem, please have a seat and somebody will call you." Two minutes later an officer called our name. She took us to her office and asked us to swear that we will tell the truth etc etc etc.
Our conversation:
Officer: I'm officer D. please let me know if you any have questions.
US: Thank you
Officer: May I see your passport?
Me: Sure and I handed my passport to her.
Officer: She was checking my passport and asked us for our IDs
US: We handed our photo ID to her.
Officer: Where are you from?
Me: I'm from the Philippines.
Officer: Are you still married?
Us: Yes.
Officer: Do you have any children?
Us: No.
Officer: How long you've been married?
Husband: More than 3 years
Officer: When did you get married?
Husband: Gave her the date
Officer: OK. Do you have proof of you relationship?
US: Yes, and I handed to her the copies of all our evidence.
Officer: Are you still working in _________?
Me: Yes
Officer: How about you Mr. _____ are you still employed in _________?
Husband: Yes and I am also a homeland security employee.
Officer: OK. Now Mrs. ______ Do you have any police charges against you? Felony or misdemeanor?
Me: No.
Officer: Was checking our papers again and told us that the papers are good and was asked me if I have my green card.
Me: I said Yes, it's already expired but I have an extension letter here with me. Do you still want it?
Officer: Yes, you don't need that anyway. I will stamped you passport and I will give you 6 months work authorization. It usually take six months before you get your actual card and if for some reason you will not get your green card within 6 months then you can come back here and request for an info pass and will stamp your passport again.
Me: I was listening to her but was really upset because it took them 11 months before they touched my case and on the top of it I have to wait six months for my actual card?grrr... but I kept my cool.
Officer: OK, I'll step out for a minute and make copy of these papers.
Me: You don't need to do that because those are copies I have the originals with me. Good thing I made copies of all the papers. It really helped us saved time because both me and hubby are still going to work.
Officer: Thank you for coming.
Us: Thank you so much officer...
We're thankful that the officer took us even though were more than an hour late. I hope I will get my actual green card soon.

IMMIGRATION 101 -- I751 INTERVIEW DATE
As stated in my previous post that I received an invitation letter from uscis last week 10/16/08 or 10/17/08. It basically says in the letter that me and my husband has to be there on 10/23/08 for our I-751 interview, great. I didn't see this coming at all. I thought for sure that they will not call me for an interview but unfortunately they did and I'm not very happy at all. I'm happy knowing that they finally look over my case but the interview portion really sucks. Lucky for those people who successfully removed the condition of their residency without going through an interview.
I made a copy of all the requirements needed on that day like...
1. Photos of me and hubby together and photos of me and hubby with friends.
2. Both 07 tax return, they actually ask for our tax return within the last 3 years.
3 . Receipt in both our names
4. Mails in both our names
5. Health/life insurance copy with my/his name as beneficiary
6. Joint account
7. Rent contract
8. Mortgage pre-approval letter
9. GC, B-cert, passport, appointment letter
I hope everything goes well for us this Thursday. I'm not nervous at all but I'm just annoyed with the situation.
Note: We already submitted the above mentioned papers but we'll bring them on Thursday, it's better safe than sorry.
I'll keep you posted on the outcome of this interview.. Keep us in your prayers.

IMMIGRATION 101!
I filed my I-751 November of last year and to the people who doesn't know what that means, it's a process wherein you removed the condition of your residency. Anyway, I had a very bad morning to start with and became worst when I received a letter from USCIS. Like I said I filed November 07 and got a stupid response from the Immigration today October 15, 08. To be honest I am very upset of this whole immigration thing. The fee is so high and the processing is so slow! They gave immigrants such a hard time no wonder why there are millions of illegal alien in this country.

RENTING A TIME MACHINE
After viewing the photos, I logged out and logged in again into my other account. When I was inside I was surprised seeing that I have pending invitation. So I clicked it and I found out it was one of my elementary classmates. I was so happy because she added me in her friendster account that means she still remember me. She was one of my close friends way back elementary. I viewed her photos and boy! she is still the sheddy, the cute little girl in 1987.
God! time goes by so fast, it feels like everything happened yesterday. I can still remember that I was sitting in row 1 grade 1 and was looking at the Grade six classrooms and said to my self I want to go inside that classroom but I still have 5 more years to go before that will happened , hey! that was 21 years ago.
If I could only rent a time machine I would be glad to go back to my past even for an hour. I want to see my little me, my cute little friends, and watch my siblings grow up. If I could only do that.
By the way I thought of sharing this photo, the VNCMCS 1993...

TIPS FOR BIDDING AN ITEM ONLINE ex. E-BAY,IOFFER ETC.
Why bid an item online? Bidding and winning an item online is really fun. You can also save gas and if your lucky you can get a brand name item for less. What are the things that you have to consider before bidding an item?
Tips for bidding an item:
1. Check the score 10 (%100)
It is very important that you check the score of the seller because it represents how many items they had sold since they started selling. I would suggest that you avoid bidding on an item when the seller has only bellow 10 score.
2. Read the feedback:
Make sure you read the sellers feedback and sellers feedback as a buyer. Don't go by the percentage of the seller because sometimes it will still show %100 feedback even though they had a dispute in the past wherein the seller and the buyer agreed to withdraw the bad feedback. Sometimes some buyers are satisfied with the item but not very happy with the shipping that's why they leave neutral feedback on the seller . Neutral feedback doesn't really affect the sellers ratings.
3.Read the description of the item you are bidding:
Read the description of the item carefully and most specially the words that are written in small letters. There are some sellers that sells cellphone and at the bottom of the description you will see a small printed message saying that this auction is for box only or picture only, obviously that's a scam remember Judge Judy show?
4. Don't give your credit card number:
I know Paypal screwed me in the past but I would still suggest that you pay through them using your credit card because if you are not satisfied with the item or you were being scammed by the seller you can always initiate a dispute against them.
5. Disputing an item:
You can always file a dispute through paypal but I strongly suggest that you contact your credit card company and file a dispute. Credit card companies favors the credit card holder so just keep any forms of evidences with you because sometimes there are sellers who tried to defend their selves hoping that they could get away with it.
6. Don't give any back up funding:
Make sure you don't give your bank account as your second source of funding.
Bid wisely.

MY OWN SIMPLE WAY OF LOSSING WEIGHT
These are the things I do when I work out:
1. Stretching:
2. Leg exercise:
I use seated leg extension for at least 40-45 counts, I put 70 lbs weight on it.
3. Abdominal exercise:
I use Vertical Abdominal Crunch for at least 50-60 (20,20,20) counts, I put 45 lbs on it.
I also use Fitness Ab Crunch Machine for at least 50-60 (20,20,20) counts, I can only do 10 lbs.
4. Arm/ shoulder exercise:
I use the Shoulder press exercising machine , I can do 20-40 counts. I also do dumbbells ( 10lbs).
5. Treadmill or cross trainer:
I use both the treadmill and the cross trainer. I always start with the treadmill for at least 30 minutes and I usually burn 130 calories. Then I use the cross trainer and do it for about 10-15 minutes and burn 100-110 calories. It's always a good idea specially if you just started doing the work out to read the instruction. It should show how much calories should you burn according to your age.
You will feel muscle pain within your first 2 days of working out but you'll be fine. It really feels good after working out.

DO YOU STILL LOVE YOUR JOB?
Do you still love your job even if....
You have annoying co-workers:
Who feel that he/she is your boss, that he/she is always right, that he/she is so noisy that if your ears can shout they already did?
Who always watch what you're doing:
He/she is always there to watch every single mistakes you've done. He/she will make a big deal even if it's the most non sense thing in the world?
My answer is YES I do! I do love my job, I love what I'm doing and I couldn't care less of the people around me, hey there's no perfect situation. Friends, If you encounter those types of co-workers the best thing that you can do is to ignore them. Remember something, you're not there to be their best friends you're there because of work and if there are times that they get so annoying just remember your pay check, that will make your day.
Take care everyone.

TIME TO WORK OUT!
Before I took a shower this morning I thought of weighting my self. So I stepped on the bathroom scale and I was so surprised with what I saw. So I tried it again maybe it was a mistake and the same numbers showed up. I was really upset with my self because I know I'm gaining weight but I didn't do anything to lose or at least control not to gain weight - sigh-. I mean I'm not huge but I've never been like this before and I don't like it.
When I got to work this morning I saw people passing by with their gym outfit and without any hesitation I went to the front counter and registered. I'm going to start my work out tomorrow and I hope this will help.
When I was in the Philippines I used to walk a lot, I don't eat pizza at all, I seldom eat chocolates, eat ice cream or cake once in a while that's why I don't gain weight. Now, I always drive, eat pizza, eat chocolates everyday, eat ice cream or cake every so often that's why I gain weight, a lot too. I will try to lose some weight it might not be the same as before but at least not like this. I never expected I will expand like this. My parents used to worried because I was so thin as a tooth pick and now it's the other way around. So please watch what you eat people it's so easy to gain weight but very hard lose it.

HOW TO GET A JOB ( job fair)
Now a days it's so hard to get a job. Let's just say a company put a job fair ad in the news paper and they only need 10 people to work as guest receptionists for the new hotel. At least 50 people applied for the guest receptionists position and you are very eager to get the job , what should you do?
Here are easy tips on how to get a job:
1. Read the instructions:
When you hear the word job fair what comes into your mind? Correct, people
thought that they could just walk in, fill out an application and be interviewed. Some companies like ours when we hold a job fair we always do it by appointment, we DON'T take walk ins. We do not have paper applications anymore , everything is online now and people who are wishing to go to our job fairs they have to fill out an application in our website and set up an appointment 24 hours before the day of the fair. We are doing that to control the crowd and that's one way of pre screening the applicants. That's why it's very important to read the instructions carefully before going to a job fair.
2. Confirm your appointment:
When you're done filling out and application and set up an appointment online best thing to do is to call the Human Resources and confirm your appointment.
3. Dress to impress:
No matter what job you are applying for make sure you wear a business casual or business dress. The interviewer will also give you points on how you carry your self, the way you answer the questions , and the way you dress up. Do not wear Capri's, shorts, torn pants and flip flops. No baseball hats please.
4. Smile:
Interviewer always love to see people who always smile.
5. Be patient:
In most cases when you go to a job fair it usually takes longer than what you expected. Say for instance you were scheduled for 5 pm and it's almost 5:30 pm but the interviewer haven't gotten to you yet, don't start complaining instead be patient.
6. Say thank you:
After the interview don't forget to say thank you to the person who does the interview. One thing too, don't forget to ask for his/her business card and if you have a chance send a thank you e-mail to him/her.
I hope these tips help you people whose looking for a job.

WARNING E-BAY & PAYPAL USERS - UPDATE
As soon as Paypal closed my case I immediately contacted my credit card company and file a dispute against paypal. The next day when I checked my account online my credit card company credited me for the money that I had paid for the item I purchased. I didn't really get the whole amount of money because what happened was that time I have credits left in my paypal account so they took the money then charge the remaining balance to my credit card.
BAKED PORK RIBS
Who said that pork ribs is for grill only? I and hubby had a wonderful dinner tonight. I had baked him a pork ribs and he loves it. The original plan was to grill the pork ribs but unfortunately we ran out of gas and it was too late to get a replacement. So what I did was put the ribs in the oven and baked it. My husband told me that " it was one of the tastiest pork ribs I've ever eaten, thank you."
WARNING E-BAY & PAYPAL USERS
I had posted my experience in a forum, since I'm not allowed to attach links here I decided to copy paste the whole thing so that people who haven't read the story will be aware. If you are an e-bay and paypal users I would suggest that you give at least 5-10 minutes to read the story. You may encounter the same situation in the future atleast you know what to do next.. So here we go.....
Hi all,I just want to share this experience to you. I've been using e-bay for almost 3 years now and I bought few items from them and had no problem. I've been using pay pal to pay the items that I bought in e-bay because according to them Pay Pal is the safer, easier way to pay and get paid online.I bought an item on July 13, 08 and paid it right away thru pay pal the item was describe as brand new, never been used. I paid less than $100 for the item. I got the item on July 26, 08 and was very upset because the item was not brand new at all, you can see dirty finger prints on it, scrape etc. So I contacted the seller right away I told him that I am not happy with the purchase because the item is not as what he describe in his auction. I e-mailed him few times and didn’t hear from him so I decided to file a dispute to pay pal and then waited for few days and escalated the case. He then replied to me in one of my e-mails to him saying " if you don't like the item I'll be happy to refund you." And then e-bay sent me an e-mail that the seller requested for me to send back the item and he will refund me. So I sent the item back to the seller on July 29th and gave both pay pal and seller the tracking number. I had checked the tracking number a week after I sent the package and it says " Status: Arrival at unit, Your item arrived at 7:15 am on July 31,08". I was wondering why it's still in the unit when It's over a week now. I'm guessing what happened was the post man was trying to send it to the seller but then he wasn't home that is why they keep the package in the post office and wait till the guy come and pick up the item. On August 15, 08 pay pal sent me an e-mail saying that they needed more time to investigate the case and I was so surprised because on August 16, 08 pay pal sent me an e-mail again saying " They closed the case because I had given them an invalid tracking number and there is no confirmation of delivery that's why we can't give you a refund." I was furious! I sent them an e-mail telling them that I have the confirmation receipt/tracking number here with me from the USPS and as far as confirmation of delivery is concern the guy didn't want to pick up the item because he know full well that he was lying about his auction. Now, the guy has the money and I bet he's going to pick up the item soon now that the case is closed. And I check his name in Google and I was surprised because the guy has TV program in Florida. Pay pal gave me his phone number and e-mail address. At first I was thinking maybe somebody is using his name but Can’t be because the e-mail add in his sites and e-mail add in pay pal and e-bay is the same so that means it's the same person. I just give you a heads up people, I know e-bay is a nice place to shop but be extra careful specially when it's payment time. I thought I was covered with pay pal so called "buyers protection" but I wasn't, it's too bad.
Please read the update on the next post because this one is getting long....

THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM
"A discovery made by a kung fu obsessed American teen sends him on an adventure to China, where he joins up with a band of martial arts warriors in order to free the imprisoned Monkey King."
My husband told me about this movie called " The Forbidden Kingdom". So, we watched the movie tonight and boy we really enjoyed it. The combination of the two kungfu masters Jackie Chan and Jet Li was fantastic. The lightning effect was great, beautiful scenery and it was a very interesting story. The movie has great action sequences with a little bit of comedy, love story, adventure and drama. We only paid a dollar to rent this movie and it was more than worth it.
One of my favorite scenes in the movie was when Jackie was praying to rain in the dessert then few seconds you see drops of water and we thought for sure it was raindrops but it was Jet who stood up on the huge rock in front of Jackie and peed.

PALM READING
I was a sickly teenager, I always ended up going to the hospital and quack doctor (binisaya). I even stopped 1 year in high school because the doctor said I have to stay home and get better.
We believe in both the medicine doctor and the quack doctor.

DREAMING OF MY EX-BF...YIKES WEIRD.
PLAIN RUDE, NO GOOD.
I FEEL SORRY FOR THE OLD MAN.
REST IN PEACE
I didn't see this coming at all. A week after my brother in-law (Philippines) passed away one of my dearest friend which happened to be my Shift Manager died. I was in pain too much pain between the death of my brother in-law and the sudden death of my friend. I will named him Mr. R to respect his families' privacy.
He is my boss but he's very down to earth, have sense of humor, a good listener and everybodies friend. When I went to the wake I refused to go near his casket and say bye to him for the last time it's because I want to keep the memory of him laughing, having fun with my co-workers and not the memory of him in the coffin. There I saw his two lovely daughters and I regret that I didn't introduce my self to them. I don't want to see them crying in front of me. I was glad because I had a short conversation with some of Mr. Rs family.
Few weeks later I got a card with a beautiful message in it from one of Mr. Rs family and I was in tears reading it. I do appreciate the fact that they remember me.
My prayers are with you....
I will also share the story of my late brother in-law who unfortunately passed away because of blood cancer. When, where , and how ? I will post it next time....

THE LIFE BEFORE YOUR EYES
Imaginative, impetuous and wild Diana (Evan Rachel Wood) can’t
wait for her adult life to begin. Whiling away the final days of high school in
the lush springtime, Diana tests her limits with sex and drugs as her more
conservative friend Maureen (Eva Amurri) watches with
concern. Then the two teens are involved in a Columbine-like shooting incident
at their school and are forced to make an impossible choice. Only one of them
can live...
15 years later Diana (Uma Thurman) is married and
has a daughter. A memorial service at her high school brings back old memories
and as past and present start to intertwine her husband and daughter become
increasingly absent and Diana finds her life slipping away.
I and my bana watched “ The life before your eyes” last night 09/06/08. Uma Thurman is one of those actresses that can really act. She played her part very well considering the fact that she’s been doing action films. One of the actresses that struck me was Gabrielle Brennan who played as Emma ( daughter of Diana). She is very talented for a girl her age.
About the movie, it’s very confusing the ending is not that good. When you watch the movie from the very beginning to the end you will ask your self “ What was the outcome of the movie? How did Diana survive from the shooting? Where is Maureen (Diana’s best friend)? What happened to the kid?”
